The given map displays the current state of the centre of Islip and the proposed changes of the town in the nearest future. Among these improvements, there’s a considerable transformation of the main road and a replacement of several shops with a shopping centre.
The main road, initially passing through the city centre, is planned to be converted into a one omitting the shopping area and instead surrounding it. As a result, the school, which has previously been accessible with only one way, is going to have an easier access from both western and eastern part of the town. However, that change is equal to demolishing the countryside area on the northern part of the outskirts.
With the development of the local infrastructure comes along the expansion of housing with an introduction of 2 new designated areas. However, that change comes along with limiting the size of the park. Another newly introduced housing area will also have a separate access to the dual carriageway.
Several shops are expected to be replaced with a shopping centre with an access to a car park for local drivers. There will also be a bus station just round the corner for shoppers commuting by public transportation.
Development also includes building a pedestrian zone passing directly through the market area which is going to be convenient for customers of local shops.
