The chart compared the proportion of households in owned and rented accommodation in two nations from 1918 to 2011. It is clear from the chart that the rate of households in owned was increased significantly. In addition, the percentage of renting household of people in two nations was highest in 1918. In 1918, the figure for households in rented accommodation was highest, at 77% whereas the number for households in owned was lowest, at only 22%. From 1939 to 1953, the amounts for households in rented were remained, at above 69%. At the same time, the rates for households in owned were significant equally lower, at only 31%. In 1961, the number of renting households was witnessed a decrease, stood at 59% while the figure for buying houses was rose to above 40%. In 1971, the figures for renting and owning were equal at 50%. In 1981 and 1991, 60% and 68% of the total people were own a house respectively, compared to the numbers renting a house, at 40% in 1981 and 32% in 1991. In 2011, the figure for owning house was slightly lower, at 64% while the rate for renting rose insignificantly to 37%.
