Several reasons can explain why more people choose to be self-employed nowadays. Firstly, this matter can be attributed to the fact that entrepreneurs are likely to have better income potential. The reason is that earnings of those who are traditionally employed often depend on their positions’ salary cap, not their efforts or hard work. However, self-employment can help individuals increase this salary cap, since their income will correspond directly to their efficiency at work. Another possible reason of being self-employed could be flexible work schedules. More specifically, entrepreneurs are attracted by the chance to select their working hours and workplace which best suit their lifestyle and family needs. Nevertheless, this trend also has some negative aspects that should be taken into consideration. One of the biggest deterrents is the lack of financial security as entrepreneurs no longer receive steady pay from their employers. In fact, their income might vary significantly, depending on market situation, running cost and other expenses.
