The line graph shows the number of tourists visiting Malaysia and Dubai from 1995 to 2003.
Overall, Malaysia started the period with more tourists compared to Dubai. However, by 2003, Dubai had significantly increased its tourist numbers, surpassing Malaysia.
In 1995, Malaysia attracted approximately 100,000 tourists, double the 50,000 in Dubai. Over the next few years, Malaysia's tourist numbers fluctuated, peaking slightly above 200,000 in 2000 before declining.
Dubai, meanwhile, saw steady growth. By 1997, its numbers began rising and, despite fluctuations, stabilized by 1999. Crucially, in 2000, Dubai's numbers increased rapidly, allowing it to surpass Malaysia in 2001. It continued this upwards trend to reach around 400,000 tourists by 2003.
By the end of the period, Dubai had firmly positioned itself as the more popular tourist destination between the two, attracting twice as many tourists as Malaysia.
