Museums are often regarded as some of the most valuable places for individuals to visit. Notwithstanding, some argue that these institutions should not charge admission fees, regardless of visitors’ age, nationality, or income level. From my perspective, I partially agree with this view due to its educational and cultural purposes. This essay will explain the reasons but also illustrates drawbacks and solutions. On the one hand, museums provide people with an opportunity not only to learn about their historical heritage but also to discover their traditional cuisine and clothing. Setting high ticket prices could discourage individuals, especially those with low incomes, from gaining knowledge. This may particularly affect young people, who are not affordable for entrance. Moreover, exposing children to history and culture early on could be highly beneficial for their personal development. Regardless of some concerns about the nationality of visitors, I believe that the diversity of visitors would enrich the global understanding and perspectives. On the other hand, maintaining museums’ artifacts requires sustainable financial resources. In terms of staff, salaries are needed to keep them for cleaning and storing stuff. Although ticket sales should not be the sole source of revenue, they are essential for the operation of museums. Governments should also play a vital role in funding these institutions. For instance, offering discounted tickets for students or family passes could be an effective solution to balance accessibility and economic problems. In conclusion, museums should offer affordably priced tickets to ensure that everyone, regardless their nationality or income level, can have a chance to visit with solutions to keep the quality of museums.
