The line graph displays the percentage of Australian exports to four countries - China, Japan, India, and the United States - from 1990 to 2012.
Overall, exports to the United States and Japan decreased whereas those to India and China increased during the period.
While Japan and the US experienced a similar downward trend in terms of the portion of exports from Australia, that of Japan has been twice as much as the US through the report. To be precise, in 1990, exports to Japan were the highest among other countries, over 25%, on the other hand, the US had roughly half that amount in that year. Although exports to the US fluctuated around 10% until 2005, they finally declined to well under 10% in 2012.
Conversely, the figures for India and China displayed an upward trend. Notably, both started well under 5% in 1990, but China's rate soared in 2000 and left a big gap with India, which stood at 30% in 2012 and allocated the highest share in that year.
