Some people believe that parents should also take blame when their childbirth break the law. I personally, agree with this statement. This essay will give examples from the USA government and the American Association of Psychiatry to prove arguments and support points of view.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that children spend most of their time at home so that, progenitors usually possess great knowledge about the behavior of their child and can identify efficiently when something is disturbing their children or if they are acting abnormally. Empiric research by the USA government showed that 90% of the mothers of young criminals in jails admitted to have noticed changes in the behavior of offenders prior committing their crimes. Therefore, it is beyond doubt that parents are the first line to stop and prevent law assaults done by younger generations.
On the other hand, it is well known that starting a family involves a great deal of responsibility, in order to raise a future healthy adult, parents most have the time, financial resources, as well as emotional stability that is required to teach their children how to be a good member of society. Recent studies by the American Association of Psychiatry found a significant relation between the age when people become parents and the number of crimes committed by young individuals. The younger the parents are, the more likely their children would commit a crime. Thus, bringing a human being to the world is an act of great responsibility and it is a decision that should be made when couples have the level of maturity needed for it.
In conclusion, given the arguments and examples, I strongly agree with the statement that parents should be punished for the crimes of their children as well as the offenders, since progenitors spend most of the time with them and have the knowledge to identify problems related with mental health that can lead in criminal behavior.
