Dear Dr. Vu, I am writing this letter to apologize for my absence from our hospital’s 10th annual medical event. As you’ve known, this event is held annually to summarize treatment successes from all departments throughout the year and to propose new medical innovations. In this event, our Trauma division delivered a research about a newly-tested technique of bone fracture fixation and I was supposed to have a small presentation. I believe this should be a great opportunity to increase the credibility in conducting medical research of our department in the hospital. Unfortunately, I could not attend this annual meeting due to some urgent problems of my family. My grandfather was hospitalized because of a severe fever while other family members were on a trip to visit distant relatives in the US. Thus, I was not able to participate and deliver my presentation. I sincerely apologize for my absence and I trust that you will understand my situation. I hope my apology will be accepted.
