Although the education system has become more advanced, it is often argued that more emphasis is given to theoretical knowledge than inculcating practical skills. I completely support this view, as, in my opinion, most of the educational institutes consider theory subjects as the only criteria for success and make a negligible effort to provide practical knowledge. The first and foremost reason to support my view is that theoretical knowledge is considered as the only way to measure the success of a student. Owing to this, educators focus mainly on providing theoretical knowledge to the students. As a result, there are generally more papers of theory in comparison to practical exams. For instance, statical data by Stanford University stated that on average, children studying in a high school give approximately 50 theoretical papers in a year which is far more than the 10 practical exams. Secondly, my viewpoint is further bolstered by the fact that most of the children these days generally lack practical skills. This is because there is generally a lack of infrastructure and practical equipment in most of the universities and schools to provide practical skills. As a consequence, students often attend additional courses to acquire practical knowledge in order to earn a lucrative job. To exemplify, more than 80% of computer graduates attend language courses to gain practical skills in computer language. In conclusion, despite the various advancements in the field of education, in my perspective, more focus is given to factual knowledge due to the fact that it is the main criteria for identifying toppers and lack of efforts towards providing practical skills.
