The chart compares and contrasts the data on the changes in the quantity of money which the Italian used for eating 6 kinds of food over three years (1992, 2002 and 2012). Generally, there was an upward trend in 4 categories including beef, chicken, potatoes and milk, whereas coffee witnessed a downward one. it is clear that the expenditures on chicken and potatoes experienced a significant increase during the two decades, it rose by 18 and 7 millions of euros, respectively. Besides, although the amount spent on beef reached a nadir at 41 millions of euros in 2002, the trend still grew to 54 millions of euros in 2012. Moreover, a remarkable fluctuation was recorded in the Italian spending on milk, reducing to 10 millions of euros in 2002 and climbing by 4 millions of euros at the end of the period. On the other hand, only the figure for coffee decreased by 2 millions of euros from 1992 to 2002 and then it stabilized at 7 millions of euros for the next 10 years. Meanwhile, the money spending on butter/margarine remained unchanged at 8 millions of euros although it also had a marginal increase in 2002.
