The graph shows the average amount of money women earned as a percentage of men s earnings in the USA from 1975 to 2005
The line graph provides information about the difference between women and men’s wages in the USA between the years 1975 and 2005 for four age ranges. In general, it can be seen an increase in the earnings of women with respect to men, during the period shown in the graph. As is observed from the line graph, the women of 16 to 24 years-old earned more than the women of the other age groups who are more than 24 years-old. The younger women’s wages had a peak in 1985, after that it levelled-off around 90%. Moving to a more detailed analysis, in the first five years for the two younger age ranges, there was a slightly increase. For 45 to 54 years group there was a slightly decrease from 1975 to 1980, and in 200o it peaked with a little over 70%. In the third range there were two peaks, the first in 1995, after that it decreased until 2000 where there was the second peak. So, in 2005 it can be seen a similar percentage of both big ages groups: for the younger two groups the wages were about 90% of men’s wages; instead for the remaining two groups the wages were almost 75% of men’s wages.
