THE GRAPH BELLOW SHOWS THE POPULATION FIGURES FOR DIFFERENT TYPE OF TURTLES IN INDIA FROM 1980 TO 2012 v. 1
The graph line illustrates four types of turtle population figures in India for 32 years period, starting from 1980, by index (1980=100). Overall, it is clear from the graph, that leatherback and green turtles, all species and olive riddle turtles started at the same unit and fluctuated, experiencing increase, drastic fall and steep changes. All 4 types of turtle populations started at the same unit in 1980 and met each other in the same point till 1996. In the mentioned year, the leatherback turtles slightly increased up to 110 point of index and declined sharply after it. In 1998, it met the green turtles in the 100 unit pattern and dramatically dropped till 55 in 2008, experiencing a slight increase till 60 point towards the end of the graph. In contrast Olive Ridley turtles experienced a drastic leap, reaching to its peak of 140 point of index in 1997. After fluctuating it had a slight drop and most strikingly, it kept the highest 130 pattern at the end of the graph. Conversely, green turtles and all species fluctuated and met again in 1993 with 100 units respectively. The latter dropped relatively in 2003 to merely 85 point of index and ended its result with 90 point of index in 2012. Meanwhile, all species experiences a steep increase to 110 point of index towards the end of the graph.
