The diagram below shows how sugar is produced from sugar beets. Write a report for a university lecture describing the information in the diagram about sugar. v. 1
The illustration demonstrates the method of sugar production and how sugar beets are used to extract sugar. Overall, the whole process contains nine steps, beginning with unloading the sugar beets from the truck to remove dirt and culminating in using the centrifuge to produce sugar. The first stage of the process starts with transferring sugar beets to the factory and unloading them from the truck. Then, these sugar beets are shaken to make sure all of the dirt and rocks are removed. Afterwards, a beet washer is used to wash the beets until they are completely clean. Afterwards, the sugar beets are cut up into small pieces, which are called cossettes. At the next step, the cossettes are put into a glass container with hot water at 70 degree Celsius, which helps extract the sugar juice. Following that, milk of lime is also added to the container in order to purify the sugar juice. To ensure that the sugar juice is purely cleaned, the mixture of sugar juice and milk of lime is filtered for one more time. After that, the sugar juice is heated repeatedly with fire, which evaporates the water. Finally, the centrifugal force coming from a centrifuge is used to crystallize the resulting sugar.
