The bar chart below shows the production of the world’s oil in OPEC and non-OPEC countries. Write a short report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below. v. 1
The bar chart given represents the oil production in the three categories of countries - non-OPEC, Middle East OPEC and other OPEC - from 1980 to the present time and with a forecast to 2020. From the data, it is clearly seen that countries of Middle East with membership in OPEC were producing nearly 3 million barrels of oil per day during the period from 1918 to 2000, whereas they are producing approximately 17 million barrels per day. Moreover, starting from 2000, other OPEC countries were involved in world oil production, and they contribution was almost five million barrels on day, compared with that, these countries will be producing only 2 million barrels per day to 2020. Talking about non-OPEC countries, their contribution in world oil production was almost 6 million barrels per day, while, in contrast, they are producing as many as non-Middle East OPEC countries which is nearly 2 million barrels. In general, it is noticeable that OPEC countries produced fewer quantity of oil from 1980-2000, however, their contribution increased and it is estimated to rise in the near future.
