Similar to Portugal, Italy also spent more than 20% to upgrade and expand public provision. Meanwhile, the UK spent the least, where only 10% of government revenue was put into road and transport. The US spent slightly more than the UK, with approximately 11%. Over 5-year interval, all 4 countries had their expenditures declined, approximately 1% to 3% fell.
In 2000, Italy, the UK, and the USA significantly invested more fund on transport infrastructure, in which increased to 23%, 12% and 13% respectively. Whereas the proportion of fund spent in Portugal continued to decrease to around 22% in the same period and then to 20% after another 5 years, where Italy and the UK also had their spending fell almost 5%. The USA was the only country that funded extra, where its percentage rose up to 15%.
