I write to apply for the position of Tour Guide as advertised by your organization on the 25th of July 2016. Please find enclosed my curriculum vitae and statement of purpose.
My first degree was in Event Management from University of Nigeria, Nsuka and my final year project was on tourism guide with emphasis on tourists from anglophone countries. In the course of executing this project, I explored several tourist locations within and around Oguta. To understand places that will be of interest to these group of people, I studied their traditions and cultures, as well as past tourist locations visited. I realized that they found water and hilly areas quite attractive, as well as areas that tell sound cultural stories about the community and its inhabitants. I therefore summarized that Oguta Lake, the Oranga Hill and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Museum will be off interest to these group of people. Also, I have gone on to garner six years of relevant experience since graduation in 2006.
I have observed that our community does not attract enough visitors and in my opinion we can enhance this situation by cleaning up the water bodies, the waterfronts and the other locations as well. Also, there is the need to paint some of these areas and plant some flowers to make them look more beautiful. However, in making these places more interesting, we need to be careful not to alter the stories they tell as that is the essence of these sites.
