Dear Ayo, How’ve you been? It was a pleasure to hear from you after such a long time! Hope you’re enjoying life after high school? I’m writing you to give you my opinion regarding the path I think will suit you, as you’re done in high school. Rather than going to college, I think it’s better you work. This is because college rules are too stringent for a free-spirited person like you. Also, you’ll have to get a part-time job while schooling, as you currently have no scholarships. Another option is getting a loan. Either way, you’ll spend the most of your hours working or life after school paying debt, which is not a life I think you want. Getting a job at this young age will afford you the opportunity to move up the career ladder quickly. Also, you’ll finally be able to pay up your mum’s nursing home bills, which keeps accumulating by the year. Remember the mortgage on your dad’s house has not been paid for a year now? Lately, the bank has been threatening foreclosure, so paying the mortgage as soon as possible will bring some kind of relief to your dad as well. I’d suggest that you apply for jobs with the skill set you have now, which is data analysis. This specialization is a booming one in the labour market and I think you have a real shot at making a difference there. Better still, you could apply for jobs that border on computational skills. Most jobs in that industry are also quite flexible and job flexibility is something you’ve always craved for. I hope I was able to answer all your questions and point you in the right direction. I look forward to having that wonderful vacation we planned last year! With love, Ola.
