The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 200
The line graph provides information about the quality of six different kinds of energy in the United States, measured by quadrillion units, between 1980 and 2030. Overall, it is clear that almost the amount of power that people consumed, such as fuels, coal, natural gas, nuclear and solar/wind is predicted to increase; however, the consumption of hydro power still will steady in fifty years from 1980 to 2030. In 1990, fuel was the kind of energy with the highest consumption, on average, people used 35 quadrillion units; compered to approximated 20 quadrillion units for natural gas, and 16 quadrillion energy for coal. While the figure for nuclear, solar/wind and hydro power were about the same as 4 quadrillion units. From 1980 to 2015 the quality of coal and natural gas jumped slowly, and both consumed around 25 quadrillion units. Meanwhile, petrol and oil continued to increase to 43 quadrillion units; the amount of nuclear, solar/wind and hydro power consumed 6 quadrillion units, 5 quadrillion units and 4 quadrillion units respectively. Over a five-year period between 2020 to 2025, the amount of natural gas, nuclear, solar/wind and hydro power will remain stable at roughly 25 quadrillion units, 7 quadrillion units, 5 quadrillion units and 4 quadrillion units respectively. The consumption of fuel and coal will experience upward trend during the same period. Between 2025 and 2030, Petro and oil consumption will rise significantly to 49 quadrillion energy and it will be expected the highest figure in the line graph. Besides, the amount of coal will climb considerably to 31 quadrillion units. Looking into the future, an inconsiderable increase in the consumption of nuclear and solar, with a rise of over 1 quadrillion energy in just five years from 2025 to 2030.
