In recent years, how firms operate has become more controversial. Many people suppose that to increase profit, enterprises should do with every trick. However, I totally disagree with this argument. I think that besides doing profits these organizations should be responsible for other related fields such as the welfare and social aspects.
It is true that the main operating purpose of almost businesses is to create profits. However, managers should conduct their companies in socially responsible manners, which not only reduce the government’s burdens but also enhance their reputation. For example, each year, giant incorporations such as Unilever, Nestle have provided students in hard conditions with a number of scholarships and invested in building schooling facilities in removed areas. As a result, they either created studying opportunities for poor students or improve their public image. Of course, the businesses’ revenue increased considerably.
In terms of environmental issues, enterprises should take action to handle biological problems which are caused by their operation. It is obvious that serious environmental degradations are results of the reckless performance of these companies. For example, the polluted the marine environment has been stemming from irresponsible oil extraction system of oil exploitation companies. In addition, unqualified disposal of industrial waste of factories is a main culprit of global warming. Therefore, businesses should use a part of the profit to install impeccable waste treatment systems and limit discharge chemical waste into the environment.
In conclusion, I do not support the idea that companies should make a profit at all costs. In my perspective, the kind of organization should be accountable for extreme problems related to their performance and other social ones.
