Topic The charts show information about the reading habits of UK teenagers
The two bar charts illustrate the distribution of girls and boys hobbies on each specific genres as well as the average books read by teenager per month in the United Kingdom in 2016. In overall, both genders shared the same interests on some typical books, namely: Fantasy, Adventure, and Science Fiction compared to the sharp contrast in Romance. In addition, a majority of teenagers considered reading books is their monthly hobby. It can be seen clearly from the first picture, there was almost no distinction between both two genders with the proportions of girls and boys voted for Fantasy, Adventure and Science Fiction were 60% and 59%; 56% for both; 43% and 45% respectively. While there was a considerable discrepancy between those two groups was observed in Romance with only 5% boys voted, just one-tenth of the weaker gender. In the second figure, 85% teenagers showed interests in reading books, with a reading rate fluctuated around one to three books per month. The number of readers gradually decreased, which is inversely proportional to the increase in book numbers. Conversely, there was a startling point in the quantity of people reading more than six books monthly, which accounted 10% of those surveyed respondents, as opposed to just 2% or 1% people read five or six books respectively.
