The graph below gives information from a 22008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030. v. 1
The graph represents the information of energy consumption by six different types of energies (petrol and oil, coal, natural gas, nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower) in the US from 1980 and the prediction to 2030. The units are measured in quadrillion.
Overall, all the energy consumption experienced an increase until 2015 and then it is predicted to be remained unchanged for most of energy sources by 2030. It is apparent that the highest energy consumption was petrol and oil, followed by coal and then natural gases for the projected periods, whereas the rest types of energies experienced the lowest energy usages.
Looking in details for the highest energy consumption was recorded at 35 quadrillion unit for petrol and oil, 20 quadrillion unit for coal and 15 quadrillion unit for natural gas in 1980. Despite the periodic fluctuations, all the energy had increased with its usage to over 40 quadrillion for petrol and oil and the same amount of energy usage of 25 quadrillion for coal and natural gas in 2015. From 2015 to 2030, petrol and oil and coal are expected to increase with its consumption to close to 50 quadrillion and 30 quadrillion, respectively, whereas natural gas is predicted to have a same usage of 25 quadrillion units.
Meanwhile, the usage for the rest of energies (nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower) recorded at the lowest unit of below 5 quadrillion in 1980. Until 2015, its usage rose steadily, nuclear had consumed over 5 quadrillion units, followed by solar/wind of 5 quadrillion and about 3 quadrillion for hydropower. The rest of energies are predicted to be remained unchanged with its consumption units until 2030.
