You live in a room in college which you share with another student. However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it very difficult to work. Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In the letter, • describe the situation • explain your problems and why it is difficult to work • say what kind of accommodation you would prefer

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing this letter to let you know about the problems I am facing while sharing a room with another student. The situation is bad enough that it is almost impossible to continue living with my roommate and this arrangement is simply not working for me. It all started 3 months ago when my previous roommate moved out and was replaced by my present roommate. I am an early riser and hence tend to go to bed early. But, my roommate stays awake till about 2 AM keeping the lights in our room on which disturbs my sleep. Due to a lack of sound sleep, I am unable to concentrate on studies and part time work. Also, my roommate keeps shouting while watching sports with complete disregard to his surroundings and the time due to which I am unable to study peacefully in my room. In spite of repeated requests, he has not been forthcoming and this has resulted in several problems in my routine. As mentioned, the arrangement with my roommate is really not working and I would hence request you to find me another accommodation. I am happy to move into another room even if it is a different hostel building as long as my new roommate has a routine similar to mine or at least one who likes to go about things in a quiet and calm manner. Thank you for the consideration. Yours sincerely, Sanket
