Dear Mr. Adams,
My name is Sara Leigh and I am a student of the Business English program at your language school. I am writing to express my concern over the cancelation of the summer work placement program.
The summer work placement program, as advertised in your recruitment material, is “invaluable for students to gain their first professional experience in an English-speaking environment”. In fact, for myself, the work placement program is the most important differentiator from other language schools, and it was the very reason I chose to study here. Many students would say the same. With covid-19, it will be extremely difficult for students to secure a position without the help from the school. The cancelation of the program jeopardizes our future in New Zealand.
Furthermore, I believe that the high tuition for the Business English program was only justified by the work placement service. I came to the school with the expectation that work placement would be offered. I do not believe that the school can legally cancel the program without compensation to their students.
Here I would like to suggest two possible courses of actions. The preferred action is to work with the students and restart the work placement program. If in the unfortunate case that the program cannot be continued, please schedule a mass meeting with all the students involved to discuss our options- perhaps to receive a partial refund of our tuition.
Thank you for your time reading this letter. While this situation is yet to be resolved, I do want to express my gratitude in the opportunities and education provided by your school so far. I hope that the school will continue to exceed our expectations and handle this summer work placement program with students’ best interest in mind.
Best Regards,
Sara Leigh
