History is one of the most respected and most valuable academic subjects that our children can learn. In my opinion it is very useful for our children to know where are they going to? By understanding where they have come from. Learning history is not only good for knowing our past but also there are lot of benefits and reasons that show us why our children should study history. Firstly, studying history helps them to understand identity. Looking back at incredible fellow countrymen is a way of establishing our own identity. Finding who we are and what mark we can make on the world is a huge part of childhood. Allowing children to learn about the identity of their country is one way of facilitating that. Secondly, they can learn from the past’s mistakes. History repeat itself, the past is filled with warning signs. With learning history kids will able to reflect on the events that built up to old people, learn from mistakes made and resist and question if they see similar patterns emerging. Kids will be able to identify when society is going down perilous routes and contribute towards getting it back on track. However, some people think teaching history to children is waste and it can cause hatred. When kids learn history, some of them have wars that can cause hatred between the countries that had the war. I do not agree with this idea because children can learn that war is the cause of many problems such as poverty so they will understand about peace and becoming friends with other people in different countries. In conclusion, history is a great widow into the past and studying it instead of it benefits, can improve children’s ability and help children function well in the future.
