Hi Liz,
This is a response to your letter dated 10th May. I have conducted an investigation to find out some difficulties Sunnyvale is facing when entering the German market.
According to my investigation, the major trigger is probably due to the fact that the largest supermarket chain promotes their own brand by selling them at a much competitive price. Additionally, they put their product at the top selves, where customers are easily be attracted and frequently offer discounts on weekends or holidays. You should visit supermarkets more often to know the way they work.
I also note with interest that our packaging is almost identical to Vitas’s, one local brand in Germany.
Therefore, I would like to suggest some recommendations:
1. Redesign our packaging, so that can make ourselves unique compared to other local brands.
2. Consider offering supermarket managers incentives for displaying our products on top selves.
3. Apply their marketing tactic which is offering discounts on weekends and especially holidays.
Sunnyvale is growing and expanding moderately, and we all know that entering and becoming successful in a new market in a short amount of time is not possible. Investigations and improvements are necessary if we want to have a market share there.
Best wishes.
Stan.
