Reference for MSc. Thi Ngoc Tran Mai
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter to give my complete support to Ms. Thi Ngoc Mai Tran (Mai) for her application for the Global Talented Visa. As the direct supervisor for her current PhD research degree at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and having known her for more than 10 years under the solid cooperation between QUT and Vietnam universities, I strongly recommend Mai to be considered for this permanent visa.
Mai has qualifications in nursing and public health with a solid basis of a medical specialist and a university lecturer of epidemiology and health concerns. She has demonstrated a broad understanding of various aspects of medical technology and has achieved internationally outstanding recognitions. During 2008 - 2010, she played a critical role in the Hanoi Medical University (HMU) team to develop a software application for HIV/AIDS and health record namely XXX, which was piloted in Quang Tri province and later adapted by Vietnamese government to be implemented throughout the country. During 2015 - 2018, she was in charge of developing an online webpage to monitor and manage information of HIV/AIDS patients called YYY, which made significant contributions to the management and treatment of this disease in Vietnam. She has also played important roles in representing HMU and Vietnam Health Care network at various international platforms including the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Collaborator Network and Australian Society of Medical Research (ASMA).
Mai has shown great talented competences as she has achieved distinguished scholarships and grants for her works. She won the Australian Development Scholarship in 2012 for her full-time Master study at QUT. Lately, in 2018, she won another full scholarship awarded by QUT Postgraduate Research Award. In addition, Mai was the first PhD candidate of QUT’s School of Public Health and Social Work to be admitted as Fellow level of the Higher Education Academy, England toward the UK Professional Standards Frame for teaching and learning support in higher education. Currently, Mai is a member of QUT’s teaching team. Her expertise specializes in epidemiology and applying the epidemiology principles to manage health information and support for health staff to screen and diagnose diseases, plan for health care programs through electronic health tools. Mai has rich experiences in transmitted diseases and other alarming global issues such as drug addiction, which are essential for Australia and global epidemic prevention and control.
I believe that Mai has the necessary personal and technical skills to get success in the contemporary medical research science. I strongly recommend her for the Global Talented Visa.
Sincerely,
Adjunct Professor Michael Dunne
