RESEARCH ABSTRACT TITLE: Survey on the Profile of the Philippine School Doha Families I. THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Introduction The home is the school’s partner in every student education and development. Raising a family abroad, particularly in the Middle East, can bring a sense of foreboding to many families, for their situation can bring profound effect in the survival, success and well-being of each member. External factors affecting their lives (nature vs. nurture) Background of the Study Quality of life Parents situation (nature of work, marital status, parenting experiences) Children’s situation (growth and development, family relationship, activities) School’s situation (academic, social, psychological, records of cases, and trends) Statement of Needs Statement of the Problem The main objective of this survey is to come up with a general profile of PSD families by answering the following specific objectives. 1. What circumstances do PSD Families under? 2. What is the profile of the PSD Families based on the following terms? a. Family Type (Single Parent Families Due to the Death of Spouse, Single Parent Families Due to Work, Single Parent Family Due to Broken Marriage and Stepparent Family) b. Child’s Birth Order c. Child-care Provisions d. Child’s Special Need Concerns e. Family Health and Wellness Concerns f. Financial Status 3. What are the critical needs of the families as perceived by the parents? Significance of the Study Identifying the unique characteristics of the PSD Families will help the school identify the unique needs of the students. More specifically, this survey can eventually arrive to a research-based data that will support the claims with regards to issues concerning the students and their families. Identifying their circumstances may help to enhance empathy and understanding constitutive in designing responsive programs that shape human values and improve the quality of life. Scope and Limitations This study will have to be conducted in the Philippine School Doha having the new students for the academic year 2017-2018 as the target population. This will only cover those who have officially completed their enrollment. An approximation of one thousand II. METHODOLOGY Research Design This research is a descriptive process of collecting data that will employ the survey approach. Through this approach, the researcher will be able to collect the information needed to answer the presented problem. Locale of the Study This survey will take place in the Philippine School Doha during the admission and enrollment period. It will cover all the new students who will be qualified for enrollment. Population The target population are families who will apply for admission in the school year 207-2018. These new students are classified into two. There are those who already have siblings studying in PSD and those new students who have no siblings studying in PSD. One hundred percent (100%) of the target population will have to respond to the survey by answering the Student’s Profile Form to be issued by the Guidance Center. Approximately, we expect to have around eight hundred new students. Data Gathering Procedure The researcher intends to reach the 80%+ confidence level and come up with reasonable results. Therefore, the target population will be Face-to-face survey to ensure high response rate The statistical significance of this study is expected to be high since one hundred percent (100%) of the population will have to accomplish the survey form in a face-to-face method with the assistance of an attending counselor during the school admission process. IV. PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA These will be presented in matrices. V. SUMMARY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Summary of Findings The summary of findings will be presented based on the data gathered. Conclusions The data presenting each specific objectives with the underlying terms will have to generate at least one conclusion leading to at least one specific recommendation. Recommendations Specific recommendations will eventually be presented based on the following projected outcomes. 1. Solid basis for identifying the PSD Community Special Population for counseling and other related activities 2. Basis for program development in different areas of learning and education 3.
