is a stone’s throw away from southern perimeter road at London Heathrow airport. A quaint yet unpretentious community of residents for 35 years, peacefully co-existing with Stansted Airport, and usual arriving and departing aircraft in the backdrop.
Municipal committee has recently announced plans for London Stansted, which includes constructing a bigger terminal to cater more passengers along with constructing brand new runway on south side to enable higher number of aircraft movements per hour. The plan looks appealing on paper, but it fails to consider the hardship of 3000 residents of Stanwell compelling them to look for greener pastures.
I will list down few reasons why committee needs to reconsider the plan for London Stansted:
1. The new terminal will require approximately 2000 hectares of Land of which 1200 hectares will be from Stanwell. This means many residents will have to relocate to vacate the land for the Aerodrome.
2. The new runway is diagonally positioned to the existing strip, which implies Stanwell will be directly on flight path which is a Noise and safety hazard.
Hoping the concerns of the residents will be communicated to relevant authorities.
Yours Sincerely,
James Earl Jones
