I come from a family that has earned its living through businesses and my exposure to the cogs of this machine came from my roots. I find myself to be very receptive to new information and it took me very little exposure to the business world to acquaint myself with the convolutions that surround this vertical. Owing to my relentless fascination with solving intriguing problems and managing creative ideas, it became clear as day that I had found my calling. My father picked up on my interest in his profession and started to take me along with him to different business events. At the workplace, I learnt discipline, work ethic and people management from my father. I was in awe of the kind of work he did, and I decided to push the envelope for myself by learning the ropes. As I grew older, I did blue-sky research and learnt that leadership and communication skills are integral for effective business management. I read books and articles that talked about effective business strategies, and although I didn’t understand much at the time, I was always an eager beaver to find out about the advancements in the business world. After discussing with my parents and teachers, I realized that I had a predilection for business studies and management. Hence, I decided to hone my skills and challenge my aptitude to get a head start in my career as a Business and Management Leader. To achieve my goals, I decided to pursue commerce and business studies in school. Initially, it was difficult for me to draw a bead on the subjects, however I learnt to work the problem instead of giving up, and that set the ball rolling. This made me aware of what would best be described by the term ‘business intelligence’, and how Finance and Accounting play an almost mission-critical role in the entire paradigm. With the solid foundation that I built through my curriculum in high school, I graduated with flying colors and was awarded for academic excellence. Soon, I realized that my school needed a club where students could engage in discussions, or experiment with the subject knowledge on business studies. Hence, I collaborated with a few interested students and drafted a proposal for the establishment of the Business Leadership Club in school. As part of the process, I presented my proposal in front of the school authorities outlining the deliverables of the group and communicated with the teachers about the potential learning curve that the club could offer to interested students. Two weeks later, the proposal was accepted by the school committee, and I was appointed as the core member of the Business Leadership Club. As part of the club, I researched and learnt about various strategies to excel in the field of business management. I requested my teachers to vet my research before arranging live workshops for interested candidates. As it turned out, they proved to be helpful in promoting learner engagement, hence I was trusted with additional responsibilities. I started to organize competitions that were based on business simulations that allowed the participants to use their critical-thinking skills and problem-solving skills to arrive at a solution. These activities generated a positive buzz amongst the students and helped me earn my spurs as a leader and innovator. Soon, I was appointed as the President of the club. After graduating from school, I secured an admission in one of the most renowned Indian colleges for Bachelors in Business Administration Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Delhi University. The course structure was highly interactive and motivated me to apply my knowledge in the form of projects, experiments, and case studies. Learning at a steady clip, I decided to test my wings and translate my learnings from the classroom into my father’s business. I set up some business and management goals for myself, and gauged my performance based on the parameters that I’d learnt about in college. Soon, I was able to draw results that inched towards profits rather than losses. I made a note of the creative strategies that I’d used to fulfil my goals and discussed them with my professors to arrive at a possible permutation that could have helped me achieve the solution faster. This technique helped me develop a growth mindset and pushed me to keep an even keel in high-stakes situations. The course was designed to meticulously follow the concepts of Accountancy, Economics, Financial Management, Auditing & Cost Accounting, all subjects that were individual pieces of this big puzzle that I was trying to solve, but at the same time, each a world of its own. My previous encounters with numbers taught me that theoretical knowledge would only take me so far and that it was imperative for me to put my knowledge to practice. With that thought in my mind, I set out to apply for internships across India whilst studying and managed to land one with Ashoo Model Art in the Finance department. I got the opportunity to apply my skills, which gave me priceless insight into real-world applications of the concepts of Accounting and Economics. In my role, I performed the core functions in addition to fulfilling a customer-facing role, which helped me understand relationship management, device management, and the role of technology in Finance to a certain degree, but most importantly, it gave me an opportunity to build myself up as a skilled individual. Within the 3 months of my internship with the company, I learned about new ways to approach problems and derive solutions out of the information presented. This brought a new slant to my perspective and successfully ushered me into a new beginning as I graduated with outstanding results and caught the eye of the technology giant, Deloitte, where I proceeded to work as an Audit Assistant in the Finance Department. With Deloitte, I got the opportunity to work with some of the most brilliant minds in the field who were nothing short of exemplary in their work. This helped me learn the nitty-gritty of the trade and enhance my knowledge of the subject multifold. With this priceless experience, I moved on to work with Multicolor Steels India Pvt. Ltd. in the capacity of a Financial Assistant. The progressive and diverse environment, both professionally and culturally, built by Claremont Graduate University will be the perfect source of global exposure for my learning and skills. Furthermore, I am confident that my diligence and zeal to tackle the unknown would be the perfect recipe to help me conjure a successful career within the talented student community, which would be nothing short of a dream come true. The United States of America is a land of endless opportunities. It is a hub of some top-rated academic institutions that offer internationally recognized qualifications, where one can nurture their true potential, gain confidence, and sharpen interpersonal traits. Its academic standards and quality of education are the highest in the world. Thereby, I am sure about my abilities and confidence that the robust education pattern of the USA Universities will allow me to gain the required endeavor in the industry-oriented ideologies and management sector to accelerate my career further. To fuel my dreams into reaching their fruition, I now intend to pursue a Masters’ degree in Finance and evolve my skillset into one that will allow me to make an impact globally. In the next five years, I aim to hone my abilities in the field by continuing to work with some of the best minds in the sphere and step into leadership roles through transformational leadership. After gaining immense knowledge and relevant practical exposure of the domain, I will fulfill my ultimate goal, which is to start my own venture on a global scale and build a global conglomerate, for which the subjects I am going to study in my master's program would help me to tackle the challenges of the business world with great intellect, and thus allow me to emerge as a leading figure of the industry. Besides, your prestigious University's panel of experts and professional faculty will enable me to acquire contemporary strategic management skills with a global perspective. A dynamically curated curriculum, including Qualitative method in Finance, Investment Management, and Applied Corporate Finance courses encourages me to enhance my skills under the influence of the intensive curriculum offered by your reputed university. Being a part of the excellent pedagogy of the top ranked business schools of the USA would serve as a gateway to tremendous opportunities as I will gain knowledge from the rich experiences of varied professionals from different industries. The progressive and diverse environment, both professionally and culturally, built by your prestigious University will be the perfect source of global exposure for my learning and skills. Furthermore, I am confident that my diligence and zeal to tackle the unknown would be the perfect recipe to help me conjure a successful career within the talented student community, which would be nothing short of a dream come true. My ideologies and ambition, combined with the vast platform set up by your institution, can bring out the best results in the global business and management sector. I know for sure; I will prove myself, exhibit my skills, abilities, and indeed add to your alumni ranks. I am anticipating a positiveresponse. Sincerely Siddhi Mangla
