Curiosity is often cited as the foundation of education. I was always an inquisitive child, intrigued by how things worked, how they were constructed, and so on. . . Looking back, I realise that my fascination with structures began at an early age, since some of my earliest drawings were of my own home, which I frequently scribbled in my notebooks. While I was in high school, I saw my father creating a building design for our new home on his own, despite the fact that he does not have a Civil Engineering background. I was fascinated by it and wanted to learn more about it. By the time I finished 12th grade, I had decided to pursue Civil Engineering as my undergraduate degree. My love for Mathematics and Physics, as well as a high percentage of 93. 2 in 12th grade, reinforced my decision. Throughout my undergraduate education, I worked hard and took advantage of minor chances, such as examinations, projects, and contests, to learn a lot of new things. They were new and intriguing to me, from the concepts of stress, strain, and loading in engineering mechanics and structural analysis to the design of concrete and steel structures. During my studies, I discovered that the structural design of a building ensures the structure's safety by allowing it to function without any excessive deflections or movements that might damage the structural parts or cause discomfort to the inhabitants. Observing the practical applications around me, I became motivated to absorb as much information as possible, both theoretically and practically. My internship with Cherian Varkey Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. , one of Kerala's leading construction firms, at the Kochi Metro Rail construction site at Petta, the concrete casting yard, Siemens HVDC project, Moolampilly-Pizhala bridge and approach road construction site, Ready mix concrete plant etc. provided me with invaluable field experience in pile construction, massive concreting, reinforcement detailing, Prestressed concrete, and steel framed structure construction. As internships serve as a bridge between academic knowledge and practical experience, they were extremely beneficial in helping me understand how a project is planned, implemented, regulated, and monitored, including the responsibilities of a Civil Engineer for carrying out quality works through proper planning and management. As sustainable engineering is the key to a better future, I've always aspired to contribute to the development of energy efficient and competent structures. Since the basis of a competent structure comes from a well stabilized and stable ground, our final year project focused on bio-mediated soil improvement by utilizing certain species of naturally occurring bacteria. After graduation, I worked as a Civil Engineer trainee at a Civil Engineering services firm, where I learned more about the role of structural engineering in defining the form and shape of a structure as well as determining its stability, strength, and rigidity. As one of the major research area of Civil engineering, I felt that I need to obtain more knowledge and exposure in this sector. Since Civil Engineering is so intertwined with so many other industries, I came to the realisation that the progress in this field can contribute to the general development of all other industries. The immense potential and scope of structural engineering sparked my attention, and I am excited to continue my academic studies in this field. Every civil engineer wishes to contribute to the growth of his or her country by providing safe, energy-efficient, and cost-effective housing and amenities for everybody. And in order to accomplish this vision, I recognized I needed more experience and exposure to a world-class research environment. I feel that my experience with tools such as AutoCAD, STAAD, Revit Structure, and Civil 3D can help me advance in this profession. As a result, I choose to pursue a master's degree at an institution that will help me reach my objectives. Canada is known for providing internationally recognized high-quality education. With a high quality of life, plenty of post-study work, and immigration chances, Canada is a favourite study destination for Indian students. Like no other country, Canada's diversified atmosphere encourages friendliness and pleasant living. After months of searching, I discovered Carleton University, which offers the Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering specialization. I discovered that it is a dynamic, research-intensive institution dedicated to providing students with an outstanding learning experience and positive career outcomes, and provides a broad range of opportunities to cross disciplines and explore new perspectives. Carleton is indeed a great place to learn and live because of its closeness to government institutions, libraries, the media, and a thriving knowledge sector. At Carleton, I hope to benefit from the world-class study and research environment, as well as the top instructors, amazing classmates, and a superb infrastructure that can help me build the skills and knowledge I need to become a structural engineer. I believe that my experience at one of Canada's best institutions will enable me to contribute to the progress of my nation by designing and creating sustainable and structurally sound buildings and structures. While sustainable buildings are definitely still in their infancy in my country, it is one of the leading promoters of green technology initiatives. When I return to India, I hope that the skills and knowledge I gained at Carleton would assist me in tackling the real-world problems. As a result, I would be delighted to join your esteemed university and embark on a bright career path. My eagerness to study and commitment will undoubtedly aid me in overcoming the challenges. I am excited for the programme, and I will take advantage of this opportunity by giving it my best.
