This chart compares five different continents regarding the proportion of water they consumed in three different fields in 1995.
It is evident that, overall, agricultural use accounted for the greatest amount of water consumption, whilst the figures for domestic use were the smallest in that year.
The figures for Africa and Latin America were almost identical. In both continents, agricultural use accounted for the highest amount of water used at nearly 85% in Africa and 82% in Latin America, compared to domestic use at approximately 10% and 20% and industrial use with about 5% and 7% respectively. (In this case, "full stop" comes after four lines. This is a "run-on" and should be avoided by shortening the sentence. )
Industrial use of water dominated that of North America and Europe measured at approximately 50% similarly, followed by agricultural consumption with 40% in the
former and 35% in the latter. The figures for domestic use were the lowest at just over 10% for both. Asia represented a unique pattern. While the proportion of
agricultural use was by far the highest at merely over 80%, similar to Africa and Latin America, the percentage of industrial consumption (10%%) exceeded that of domestic use (nearly 8%).
