It is very common to see that News stories on TV and newspapers include a plethora of visuals as part of its contents. Few viewers are also of the opinion that the pictures are influential way of communication rather than words. I strongly believe that visual communication is more effective than verbal communication, this essay will describe this in detail.
To begin with, If we see any of the news channels on the TV, almost all the news stories will be accompanied by some images or videos related to the event, which it reports for, only a few or even none of the news stories are without any visuals. For example, if there is a news story about a cricket match, first a brief headline will be given by the news anchor followed by a short video clip. Similarly, if there a story about a music concert by some famous celebrity in a newspaper, a celebrity's image will be printed on top of the story write up.
I too believe that pictures speak a lot more than words. Yesterday morning, when I picked up my newspaper I saw the smiling face of the Indian cricket captain on the front page of the newspaper, at first glance itself, I guessed that the Indians must have won the World Cup 2020, after reading the whole paragraph of the editorial, I realized my assumption was correct. On the other side, there was a text message floating in my Whatsapp group from an NGO which demanded for the monetary help for the flood victims in my state, but they could not raise a good amount of funds until unless they shared the video clips of effected area. Nowadays, our education system is also promoting the use of videos and pictures in the classroom to teach the children, which make the subject more interesting and easy for them.
To conclude, I would like to say that images, videos and other visuals, make the communication more lively, the visuals are strong mean to convey the emotions and hence, being more influential than mere words.
