Museums of different kinds, exhibiting the objects of historical, cultural and scientific values have always been gaining a great significance in the society. However, most of these museums, in recent years, do not have a free access to the visitors visiting them. Although this modern change might lead to a negative consequence, it definitely offers more benefits to museums and society. In my opinion, it is far better off introducing entry fees than a complementary entrance to such an informative place.
Firstly, these institutions do not have any source of revenue other than the funds received from the government's budget. Thus, the greatest advantage of this development is that the admission charges can actually generate and augment their income, which in turn can be used to pay the salary of the employees working there and also be of great value in renovation and conservation of its infrastructure. A good illustration of this is, Madam Tussade Museum in London, despite the ticket prices being exorbitantly high, it has been drawing the tourist towards itself because of its quality and innovation. Furthermore, the visit of beggars and lovers, who come here for personal objectives will be hindered, ideally providing a hassle-free entry to others who actually want to gain knowledge.
However, there are few challenges which an exhibition centre and the public might have to face. Firstly, as a part of active citizenship, everyone should get an access to the place which is culturally and historically vital, hence, the introduction of admission fees can be responsible for the decrease in the number of visitors. To illustrate, this reason should not stand in the way of some impoverished people who have always been interested in gathering the knowledge and worthwhile information. If there are less visitors or no visitors, then sometime later, the museums will have to even shut down. Therefore, there is some negative impact as well on this progress.
Taking everything into consideration, in spite of the reduction in the number of travellers, there are many other factors like increase in the revenue and a well designed and properly maintained building structure that makes this more advantageous.
