The impact of tourism on the environment

Tourism treats nature as something to serve it, so it sometimes contributes to some of the existing negative impacts on the environment (Bucky, 2011). The transportation industry provides tourists with the best possible means of transportation from their jump-off to their destination (Yeoman et al. , 2007). Different means of transportation such as cars, airplanes, trains use energy sources such as oil, gas, solar impulse. These vehicles can very well lead to air pollution, water, and other environmental components. Diseases are very likely to reach cities first, but also distant cities with high air traffic. For example, a pandemic that broke out in Hong Kong can now rapidly spread to many cities in the Northern Hemisphere 111 days earlier than in 1968 (Grais et al. , 2003). Recently, we have witnessed the outbreak of COVID-19 and how it spread to different countries around the world, and one of the causes is the tourism industry.
