THE HISTORY ABOUT COLOSSEO

THE HISTORY ABOUT COLOSSEO 5kEBp
The imperial tribune on the north side was dedicated to the emperor, the consuls and vestals. At the opposite end was a second floor of honor, reserved for other dignitaries. This was followed by the maenianum primum, the maenianum secundum (in turn subdivided into imum, lower, and summum, upper) and finally the maenianum summum in ligneis. The latter was included within the colonnaded portico that crowned the cavea (porticus in summa cavea) and featured about eleven wooden steps. Here women took their places, which were forbidden to mix with spectators of the opposite sex.
