The diagram below shows the steps on how to operate a fire extinguisher. To begin with, there are some parts in one tank of fire extinguisher such as nozzle, valve, cartridge of gas, siphon tube and water. The first step to operate a fire extinguisher is to pull the pin on the top of the fire extinguisher. The second step is to push down the lever which is located behind the pin; thus, will make the rod open. Third, after the rod opens it will open the valve; therefore, the gas can be released into the main container. The last two steps, the water is forced up the siphon tube and flows into the nozzle. The last step, release the lever to close the cartridge and to stop the gas. It can be clearly seen from the diagram that there are 5 steps to operate a fire extingusher, the crucial part is the lever which is used to release the gas and to stop the gas itself.
