Born into a middle-class family, my parents are both civil servants. Growing up in a rural town called Satuek, my upbringing instilled a sense of social responsibility. The communal aspect of Isaan living has never been lost on me. Witnessing my parents giving back to the community that helped uplift them to where they are today shaped my belief system and social mannerisms. Therefore, it has become my life's mission to help others.
My parents prioritized education and believed it to be the only path for better opportunities, and this is where my love for foreign languages began. Being exposed to English at a young age helped curate my desire to expand my foreign language capabilities. My parents worked hard to provide me with the best education they could, and for that, I am incredibly grateful. Having a solid foundation allowed my thirst for knowledge to grow and expand to where I am today.
When I traveled to Bangkok to participate in a scholarship workshop to study in Japan, I had a brief encounter with a group of diplomats that forever changed the course of my life. The impression left on me catapulted my interest to pursue a career in foreign services. Thus, Chulalongkorn University is the best option to expand my awareness and understanding of different cultures.
Since 2020, I have tutored children worldwide in several languages, including Thai, English, Japanese, and Chinese, through an online language exchange group. Additionally, I have established an IELTS CLUB that has taught and prepared students from M4-M6. I recently created the first Burirampittayakhom Debate Club, where we discuss recent events, history, religion, and topics of all varieties. Working and being the president of both clubs has taught me a great deal about the complexities of human relationships. Furthermore, it allowed me to understand better the adolescent mindset and the different perspectives held by my peers.
Throughout these experiences, many arguments arose due to sociocultural misunderstandings, which only further pushed my interest and desire in BALAC. For several years, I have been searching for a university with a diverse student body and faculty to prepare me for a career in foreign services. Most importantly, BALAC has a global approach, undoubtedly benefiting my educational experience. Having spent the entirety of my life in rural Thailand, I am excited to broaden my experiences and bring to the table the community values my parents instilled in me from a young age.
Receiving my post-secondary education at Chulalongkorn has long been a dream of mine. I hope my unconventional upbringing will add character to the study body and widen my perspective on the world around me.
Working in foreign services requires a broad knowledge of history and cultures, and Chulalongkorn will help me obtain this. Studying here will increase my understanding of multicultural issues and provide me with the experience of a lifetime, something I crave. BALAC is the ideal program to facilitate a career in foreign services. I can only hope that my modest upbringing will add color to class discussions and that my experiences as a club leader will give me the discipline needed for success. I am optimistic that BALAC will broaden my horizons in multiple aspects, including world history, multiculturalism, and understanding of languages. All of this together makes furthering my education at Chulalongkorn a worthwhile endeavor.
