Some people prefer to throw lavish and grand parties on special occasions like birthdays and weddings while others prefer to be more conservative while spending money on such occasions. People who like to have lavish parties on special occasions generally do so because they believe such occasions come once in a while and therefore, need to be cherished. They believe in inviting all their near and dear ones in their social circle to their special days celebrating them with great pomp and show. Others prefer it the other way, and like to celebrate these events privately or within a smaller circle because they consider their hard-earned money to be valuable enough to be just spent on one on one single day. In my opinion, while we should be prudent enough to not spend all our savings on one day, we should not be too stingy too to spend on these special occasions. The celebration should be in accordance with our income and it should not burn a hole in our pocket. This is also very subjective as people have different income levels, and hence, what is lavish for one, may not be for the other. Personally, being an introvert, I am not a big fan of big gatherings, and like celebrating my special events privately or within a small circle. Rather than spending all savings on one celebration, I believe people should use their money in buying experiences such a travelling, or some adventure sports.
