The Covid-19 pandemic has led to the widespread popularity of online education in recent years. While there are some benefits of this trend, I would argue that it has more drawbacks.
On the one hand, learning from home can be beneficial in some ways. Firstly, since online education allows learners to attend classes from any location, students can save time on commuting to school. As a result, they are likely to have more time to spend on studying or physical activities as well. Secondly, online learning gives students the chance to choose a comfortable learning space to study. Therefore, they will be in a better mood when they study in the ideal space, thereby improving their quality of learning. In contrast, with the traditional learning process, students are forced to go to school or go to the center, it makes them feel bored.
On the other hand, I believe that the potential drawbacks of online education are more significant. Primarily, due to some objective reasons such as power failure or loss of network while studying online, students are easily interrupted in online learning. As a result, they miss out on knowledge and opportunities to interact with teachers, which results in poor learning outcomes. Worse yet, Some students lose power during the online test and can not complete the test with sufficient quality and on time, resulting in destitute test results. In addition, when learning at home in a comfortable and unsupervised environment, students are likely to lose focus on lectures, causing poor learning efficiency. For instance, some students are easily distracted by other electronic devices or food, which leads to not absorbing knowledge in class.
In conclusion, while online education has several advantages, I am in favor of the idea that its disadvantages are greater.
