Pictures are usually attached to the news stories on television or in tabloids. Several people think that the images shown relate to the bulletin explain the reports more effectively than the text. In my opinion, it is very hard to understand the whole situation just only by the glimpse of a picture or a video and the words are required to present the story to everyone.
Statements, written in the newspaper are necessarily required to explain an incident or to convey a message to the readers but, the pictures in them self are not enough to state the whole circumstance during, before or after an event. People argue that the pictures are sufficient to explain everything and words are not needed to convey the news, which obviously doesn’t seem to be appropriate. For example, the ongoing outbreak of corona virus, if the government needs to issue some guidelines for the civilians in order to tackle the virus then, it would be difficult to instruct the civilians via the pictures. Hence, the newspaper readers or the audiences watching Tv either may not understand the message or may understand it falsely so, the pictures alone are incomplete to explain the news and show the details hence, the words are required.
Furthermore, pictures and statements matter a lot and tell us everything clearly if together, but if the TV and the Tabloids, start using images only for the bulletin then, it may mislead the public and may become the reason for the riots and other violence in the society. For instance, a picture in the newspaper showing the black people being enslaved by the whites in early times and someone watching it may reckon that it’s happening now and eventually starts protesting and ends up being rebellious.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that to be able to understand the reports and the news on TVs and tabloids, it is important that the pictures are shown along with the words.
