Many countries around the world depend on highways for fast and reliable transportation because they are a safe way to drive long distances. However, highways have drawbacks such as unsafe traffic, environmental disruption, and noise. In this paper, I am going to deal with several of the issues with highways and how to solve them.
On the one hand, the negative effect on the atmosphere is one of the key concerns associated with large freeways. Many of these roads, for example, were created after killing colonies of plant species, diminishing the green portion of the region, and increasing the possibility of global warming. Furthermore, heavy traffic on highways contributes to congestion. This means that vehicles emit a lot of smoke and possibly a lot of noise, and as a result, people and nature can suffer because of this problem. Simultaneously, the speed limit in transportation is very high in many countries. This ensures that any collisions are more likely to be severe and involving a large number of cars. Occasionally, many cars collide in poor weather, killing or injuring several people.
On the other hand, ways may have a negative impact on the climate. Highways also cut into scenic forests, endangering plants and animals. This issue could be solved by constructing highways through less attractive areas or placing certain sections through tunnels. Furthermore, the high volume of traffic on highways contributes to both ozone and noise emissions. Moreover, governments may help to reduce air emissions by making environmentally friendly vehicles more affordable. Noise exposure may be minimized by modifying the surface of highways or erecting sound-proof fencing.
Despite their flaws, highways are necessary and useful. The complications they pose may be mitigated with proper planning and preparation.
