Many people believe that formal pen and paper examination are the best method of assessing intelligence. 2KLEA
People think students who perform well in written examinations are the intelligent ones. I completely disagree with this notion. To begin with, most students cram to pass. Some students are of the believe that to get to the next level in their education, all they have to do is to reach the lecturer's pass mark, thereby, they memorize all they have learnt in the past weeks, whereas what they have done does not show how intelligent they are, but how they are good at "coping and pasting". For instance, the boy who got the first position at my son's school could not even do his homework unassisted, what he does when it comes to paper exam is to cram all that was in his notes word for word. Furthermore, some students cheat to pass. It is found out that some scholars bring in micro chips to the exam hall and if they do not get caught, they get away with it. Not only that, their results comes out fantastic. Also, some students have sex with their lecturers for marks. Moreover, some students perform better when tested in other areas. Intelligence can also be measured through oral method, practicals and projects. A student that can single handedly create a moving toy car should be considered as intelligent, as well as a student who performs exceptional in a debate. To conclude, i strongly believe that pen and paper examination is not a true measure of intelligence because some students cram, cheat and others perform better in alternative methods of examination.
