The choice between home schooling and institutional schooling is not a clear one and many parents find themselves confused when deciding the schooling type for their dear one. Home schooling provides greater opportunity to families to create close bond with their child on the other hand institutional learning gives a child an exposure to large pool of educational and social resources. In my opinion benefits of institutional learning out-weighs benefits from home schooling. Home schooling is not a new concept, but its acceptability has been picking up with development of internet and content it has to offer. It gives flexibility to child and parents to manage their time conveniently and also parents can take child education at the pace which is comfortable and can put more efforts on the topics of specific interest. Not to forget that key take-away is quality of bond that parents achieve with their dear ones. On the other hand institutional schooling gives a child a structured and more disciplined approach in a very early stage of his life. It not only gives him an opportunity to learn from varied human resources with their own specialization but in process a child can also learn various social skills from his interactions. Now-a-days all the educational institute does give an equal weight to sports as part of curriculum as they give to formal education and this enable child access infrastructure such as swimming classes which is not possible in home environment. In my view home schooling does have various advantages but they are out weighed by the benefits one has from institutional schooling. But does my opinion make conclusion for others? No. Every family has a different need and its up to them to consider pros and cons which fit well in their situation and take required course of action.
