Today, online networking sites play an important role in our lives, even dominate our lives. They have also brought with them many undisputable benefits, but there are still many significant drawbacks. The first advantage is communication without borders. It is quite simple and easy to contact friends and relatives using online networking sites because they allow us to connect fully for free and link with other people from all around the world. One more advantage is that online networking sites are a great marketing channel for business. Advertising feature on these networking sites has become more effective thanks to algorithmic optimization by website developers. I can easily contact friends, relatives anywhere and exchange documents with others on Facebook without meeting in person or incurring costs. In addition, the advertising feature on Facebook also works extremely effectively, it will suggest exactly what you want to buy or you are interested in. This accuracy also comes from the fact that Facebook has optimized its algorithm effectively. Besides the undisputable benefits of social networks, there are still some disadvantages for users as misleading information, personal security, scam, . . . . In my view, the most significant drawback is misleading information. Information is posted by any users but it is not authenticated carefully, so it can lead to the widespread of fake news. In Vietnam, many people posted false information about the covid-19 pandemic situation, but Facebook company has absolutely no control over this. As a result, it caused serious confusion for others. Although online social networking has such negative effects, we can not deny its utilities.
