The line graph below illustrates changes in the rates of smoking in Someland in men and women between 1960 and 2000, a period of 40 years. As can be seen from the graph the numbers presenting for men are always higher than women‘s although their downtrend compared to an upward trend in women. In 1960, 60% of every 1000 men were smokers, which is exactly 600 people. This number decreased slowly and reached the 500 mark by 1975. From then on, the rates of smoking in men began declining faster and as a result, it dropped another 100 people into 400 in 10 years, compared to 15 years of the previous period. Noticeably, the speed of this reduction reached the highest level for 5 years since 1990, which dropped the number 400 into 300 and did not change till 2000. In contrast, the rate of smoking in women in 1960 was at the minimum number, around 100 people in every 1000 women. Then, a rise was made up and led to a result that the number was doubled. It did not stop here but boomed to 320 people within 5 short years from 1970 to 1975. After that, the number remained steadily the same, although there were trivial falls until 1990. Gladly, after a stable period with high numbers, a fall began and in 2000, the number of smokers was 300.
