Various steps involved in the making of matches are illustrated in the diagram below. The overall process involves peeling the log, chopping, chemically treating, drying, and packaging.
The process starts from peeling off the log with a veneer. Which is then chopped into match sized sticks. It is then treated with Ammonium Phosphate in a tank. The treated sticks are dried in drums and blowers. Which are collected in the storage area where they are dropped into the conveyor belt and then into the positioning funnel. The funnel also inserts them into the perforated steel belt. The perforated belt helps in holding the sticks in position for the next set of processes.
The matches in the perforated belt start their journey with a dip in the paraffin wax tank. This is followed by dips in the based chemical tank and tip chemicals tank. Then they are dried in the belt. Finally, they are dropped in the packing area which will be packed and shipped to the consumer.
