The chart underneath illustrates the monthly spending of an Australian family between 1991 to 2001. Overall, the expenditure on food, electricity and water, housing, other goods and services had increased in the ten years while clothing and transport decreased. In the beginning, the amount of monthly spending on electricity and water saw a dramatic increase over the ten years from 75 dollars to 120 dollars. In the meantime, other goods and services grew the expenditure between 1991 to 2001; 250 to 270. Furthermore, food, housing had a minor rose of the five-dollar over the ten years. On the other hand, there had fallen on other two items. Australia spent less than a third on clothing, which went down from 30 dollars to 20 dollars.
