The bar graph exhibits the effects of on-the-job injuries on the number of days lost per worker in five countries; namely, America, Brazil, China, Germany and Korea for the following time periods: 1991-1995, 1996-2000 and 2001-2005.
First, China showed the highest number of days lost due to work-related injuries in the three-time periods. They recorded a sky-high record at 10 lost days from 2001-2005, the highest among all the countries compared. Next on the highest tally of the number of days lost, was the country of Brazil which recorded an average number of lost days of around 6-7 days for the three-time periods.
In contrast, we can see the country of Germany to be the most efficient country in reducing work-related injuries. The country has seen a declining trend for the periods covered with its lowest level recorded in 2001-2005 at 2 days. However, this is not a similar case for the country of America and Korea which saw an upward trend, still, they maintained their highest recorded number of days lost to the median range of 5 days.
Overall, we can assume that highly developed countries are more effective in combatting work-related injuries thereby efficiently reducing the number of days lost due to it. Meanwhile, developing countries like Brazil and China, still need to forcefully improve their safety standards at work.
