Out of seven categories of film, the thriller was the one which had the highest number of Oscar winners peaked at nearly a half in 2003. However, this type in 2008 was noticeably fell to approximately four-fifths. Following by action film, from 2003 to 2008 witnessed a dramatic rise of about 10% in the number of Oscar winners. On the other hand, documentary, romance and comedy films did not significant changes, stood at about 15%, 10% and 5% respectively over the two years. With regard to the sience fiction films, the number of Oscar winners was 20% in 2008, 2 times as much as that of 2003. In contrast, with respect to the horror film genre, this figure was 20% in 2003 and halved compared to 2008.
