The two diagrams compare the process of purifying water in Australia now and in the future. Overall, it is evident that in the future, stormwater of the city will go through a water treatment plant to purify instead of directly going into the river. Then, it comes back to the city for consumption. In the present cycle, pure water is stored in a dam or storage before being transferred to the city and used by households, shops, and factories. After being used, the city stormwater goes directly to the river. The wastewater is sent to the river treatment plant to be processed then it is safe to be released into the water. On the other hand, regarding the future, the process of being stored and consumed is just the same as the previous system. However, both the stormwater and wastewater of the city will go through water treatment for recycling, and after being recycled, no water will be released into the river.
